"Gerald Hedburg the Christmas Buffalo" is a quirky, comedic, enlightening chapter book for young adults and older adults who retain or wish to retain a functioning sense of humor. Gerald is a large, out of shape buffalo who, unlike other buffalo, always dreamed of being a reindeer for Santa. In fact his mother found him dressing up for the part repeatedly as he grew up. One day he caught the right bus out of Oklahoma and headed for the North Pole to join up with Santa's reindeer team. That was the start of a tangle of adventures that the reader will be unable to refrain from reading through once started. Rumors abound that there is a harsh encounter with a Randall, the rude, red-nosed reindeer, and also an over-elf-achiever named Nat-Nat, in addition to the inclusion of a variety of other unusual, not to say unlikely, characters. "Gerald Hedburg the Christmas Buffalo" is an irrepressibly funny book, further heightened in its impact by the black and white illustrations of unlikely characters in unlikely settings wearing unlikely accessories. If there is a grinch in your family, be sure to treat them to a copy of "Gerald Hedburg the Christmas Buffalo." It may not cure them of grinchiness, but it most definitely will give them a new slant on all things jolly and holly-filled. Suitable for both adult and young adult readers, "Gerald Hedburg the Christmas Buffalo" is the perfect out-of-season quirky gift for people who need their fun-glasses renewed.

This review is from: Gerald Hedberg the Christmas Buffalo (Paperback)
Ever since his mother caught him dressing up like a reindeer, it was obvious that Gerald had only one goal in life: to help lead Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve, delivering presents to children all over the world. There's only one problem, though: Gerald is actually a buffalo, not a reindeer. Furthermore, he's one of the clumsiest souls around, poorly lacking the natural grace commonly found in his reindeer "brethren." Not one to be deterred, though, Gerald decides to leave the Great Buffalo Ranch and make the long trek to the North Pole in order to study at the Reindeer Department of the Academy Of Arts Sciences, - where he soon embarks on an exciting adventure far beyond anything in his wildest dreams...
Gerald Hedberg The Christmas Buffalo is an amusing, entertaining read. In it, author Dahn Lee has crafted an inspiring tale highlighting the importance of pursuing your dreams - no matter how far-fetched they may seem. As such, Gerald serves as an important literary role model for anyone familiar with the negativity of naysayers - providing readers with a shining example of the sheer grit and determination required to overcome it. With a unique, broad-based appeal to readers young and old, Gerald Hedberg The Christmas Buffalo is an uplifting tale with invaluable lessons that should be shared all year round.
